Genealogists Companion
The Sumner County, Tennessee Genealogists Companion Page was created
by Sumner County natives whose ancestral roots began in Sumner
County in the early 1800's. Linda Carpenter is a 1965 graduate of
Gallatin High School and was instrumental in the formation of the
Sumner County Archives, and she still resides in Gallatin. Jan
Johnson Barnes is a 1967 graduate of Portland High School. She
presently lives in Florida, but visits her parents in Portland
often. Both of these natives share a love of genealogy and history
and are proponents of free research. The records on their site are
transcribed from microfilm and original documents and include:
Bible, census, Community, Family Lineages and photos, Wilkinson &
Wiseman Funeral records and history, obituaries, tax and voter
lists. Marriage records are also available as well as lookups
through the year 1947. They are continually adding new records,
presently working on the Civil War Deed Book, transcribed from
microfilm. Please visit their site at:
