Welcome to Gallatin, Tennessee!
May 29 through June 14, 2015
The Hendersonville Performing Arts Company presents the award winning production of “The Giver” Directed by Bakari Jamal King. “The Giver” runs May 29th through June 14th with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. “The Giver” is Eric Coble’s stage adaption of Lois Lowry’s Newbery-Award-winning book. Since its’ release in the 1990’s, “The Giver” has been one of the most acclaimed ---and controversial---books, of all time. Like its’ descendant, “The Hunter Games,” “The Giver” is set in a futuristic society. Unlike “The Hunger Games,” “The Giver’s” community has no violence. Everyone has a mother, father and sibling, shares their feelings at regular meals and is assigned appropriate job training upon reaching adolescence. No one has to worry, ever. Through this astonishing and moving adaptation, discover what it means to grow up, to grow wise, and to take control of your own destiny.
